NRM electoral commission issued a statement on Sunday night calling off the elections on Monday.

The statement partly read: "The National Resistance Movement, Electoral Commission would like to announce the postponment of party primary elections which were slated for tomorrow Monday 26th October 2015 to Tuesday 27th October 2015 through out the country. We regret for the inconveniences caused."

Police chief Gen. Kale Kayihura on Saturday warned he would not tolerate violence in the party primaries.

This change of the voting day should be able to provide enough for police to deploy sufficiently within the country.NRM
