President Museveni urges fighting South Sudan leaders to drop guns and adopt democracy

President Yoweri Museveni has told South Sudan President Salva Kiir to stop fighting in the country so that the people can freely vote for a leader of their choice.

South Sudan President Kiir invited President Museveni to Juba for bilateral talks on issues of mutual interest over the weekend.

The President tipped: "The people of South Sudan should regain sovereignty through the vote. Fighting should stop and people regain their power from those with guns."

The Uganda leader said: "I appeal to the transitional govt and other stakeholders to stop actions of insecurity so that people focus on elections as soon as possible."

President Museveni urged: "About the political situation in South Sudan, my view is that citizens should exercise their self-determination through democracy."
